Nancy CHRU is based on a multidisciplinary medical expertise serving patients of all ages. With more than forty medical and surgical specialties, the establishment handles 700,000 patients each year.

Nancy CHRU is a key player in biomedical research and ranks 9th among French UHs (apart from Paris hospitals) publishing striking articles regularly in national and international science news. It chose an overall research strategy turned towards normal and pathological aging to understand, prevent and cure better the numerous diseases related to pathological aging of cells, tissues and organs (AG.I.R program - AGing Innovation & Research).
Nancy University Hospital initiates numerous national and European cooperation and extends its geographical influence through a historical partnership with the Zhongnan Hospital – Wuhan University, China (francophone medical training, wall-less research & innovation laboratory, expertise in care for the Elderly), but also in Japan or in Cameroon.
Initial and further training for care teams is also part of Nancy CHRU fundamental missions. Closely coordinated with the University of Lorraine, it is based on innovating structures such as the Virtual Hospital which federates and promotes initiatives in terms of e-pedagogy and simulated learning (Nancy’s School of Surgery, University Centre for Medical Simulation Training).
